Wild Wanderer

It often strikes me. Like a sudden desire for strawberries or love. I can’t cope: I need to go. Somewhere. Anywhere. It feels like a universal call: I have to travel. NOW! I am not even sure it comes from my will first, it becomes a will along the way; but in the begionning, it is a need, an obligation, a mission. I can’t bargain.

I need some fresh air, I need new horizons, I need to change my world. I have to go. Somewhere. Anywhere. NOW!

Before, I’d go always further. Always longer.

Nowadays, it is always far. At least at the first thought. For instance, a month ago, I HAD TO go to Berlin. I had just watched Berlin I Love You, a blue night in my heart, et I got this unstoppable urge to go to Berlin in April. Which actually means now! But I looked for the trains and I go got cold feet. Too expensive! Then I checked planes – I could maybe bargain with my own conscience – and I burried my hopes. Too short!
Now, I need to concile my universal calls, my schedule and my environmental conscience. I did have one before, but it had sharpened over time. I don’t get on a plane for less than a 3 weeks stay to a destination I could reach otherwise… Reality definitely gets in the way of my desires. Because if I never got short on money (to my mum’s great despair!) to realise my travel dream – I’d rather eat peanut butter every day on American Roads than vegetarian lasagna in my French livingroom -; then, if money was never a stop, time in the other end is never endless. And my boss – aka myself – is not really flexible when it comes to non payed vacations… Three years ago, I went to Ireland for three weeks because I had the excuse of word, but a month ago, I hadn’t found my Berliner excuse yet. Then, I didn’t have time for a train journey to Berlin in April – and let’s be honest, I didn’t have the budget either -, But I still have hope: I might go in May. Or in September.

Nowadays, it is always far. At least at the first thought. Then, I make some adjusments betwteen duties and opportunities…

I didn’t have time, money, nor excuse to go to Berlin in April. In the other hand, I had the perfect excuse to escape closer for a shorter time: the Marais Poitevin has been flirting with me for a while and it’s one of my novel’s set. Here is a good excuse to go and give the go to new traveling and colorful stories.

As for Berlin, one of my characters is German. Here is my next excuse…
